What is Charity

What is Charity & difference between                               donation and charity

Definition and Introduction:
The terms donation and charity are confusing as they appear similar. These terms are interrelated making it difficult to understand in the event that they are the same or different. In lots of instances, these words have been used interchangeably, and although it is not wrong, the words have slight differences.

A donation is something that is given to the needy, the poor or any kind of institution that may or may not be doing charity work. Charity is regarded as the act of giving a donation to the poor, needy. Confused?  Donation is the object that is being given such as blood, funds, toys, clothes, etc. Charity is the act of giving the items to somebody that may need it.

In politics, the law of some countries may forbid or restrict the extent to which politicians may accept gifts or donations of huge sums of funds, from business or lobby groups Donations of funds or property to qualifying charitable organizations are also usually tax deductible. Because this reduces the state's tax income, calls have been raised that the state and the public in general ought to pay more attention towards ensuring that charities actually use this 'tax money' in suitable ways.

Donation may even be regarded as a gift or a contribution that is made to somebody that may or may not be poor. For example: when a person donates funds to the Cancer research institute,  necessarily going to the poor and the needy, it is being used to fund research that is looking for a way to cure cancer or make advancements in cancer research.

There's been discussions on whether as well as a donation of time ought to be tax deductible.

In countries where there's limits imposed on the freedom of disposition of the testator, there's usually similar limits on donations.citation needed

The person or institution giving a gift is called the donor, and the person or institution getting the gift is called the do-nee.

In Dictionary defines ‘CHARITY’ as:
  1. Provision of help or relief to the poor.
  2. Something given to help the needy.
  3. An institution, organization, or fund established to help the needy.
